Frequently Asked Questions

-- GENERAL

What game does the game use to run races and determine horse statistics?
Glory uses a complex Excel document designed by one of the Admins to run races and determine horse statistics.

Can I have it?
No.

Can I be on staff?
No, though when the time arises, Admins will contact those we see are fit to handle positions.

What's with the time?
Glory runs at 2 RL week = 1 Glory month. One Glory Year will run about half a RL year because we have 24 'months.' Each month is split into two, for a total of 30 races per Glory Month and 60 races per RL month.

Does it cost anything to play?
Absolutely not, and there is no intention of charging people to play Glory.

What does ____ mean?
Glory uses various acronyms that people might not understand. Hopefully these will help.

SW: Stakes Winners
MSW: Multi Stakes Winner
SP: Stakes Place
MSP: Multi Stakes Place
NG: No Geldings
CLM: Claiming race

How much money do I start with?
$200,000

How can I earn money?
Doing well in races, participating to earn Active Member Incentive points to trade in for money, being active in Glory to earn your monthly salary, and by selling horses.

Is it mandatory to purchase facilities?
Yes. No one will be jumping down your throat over it, but we will make sure you have enough stalls/land to hold your current horse capacity. Do what you think is right and be mature about it.

What do I start with in the game?
Three horses, $200,000, 10 acres of land, a clean slate, and the title of newbie.

When was Glory founded?
June 2007.

Do I need experience to play?
No, but you definitely need patience.

What happens if I go bankrupt?
Your account will be frozen until you have sold enough horses to get back into positive digits.

How long is a new member considered a newbie?
Six Glory months, or about three RL months.

What do I do if I have a problem with a member?
Contact Admin and explain the situation. We will do our best to resolve it.

-- RACES

Why are there no steeplechases?
At this point in the game, we simply don't want steeplechase.

When do entries close?
Entries close every Saturday at 12:00AM EST.

When do races run?
Races run any time over the weekend, usually Saturday afternoon.

How many entries are needed to run a race?
Right now three is the minimum. If there is one horse entered in a race, Glory will run two horses to fill the race. Any races not entered by members will be canceled.

How are purses split up?
Until Glory has a sudden overload of horses and a full field (14) of horses is running, purses will be split up as follows:

1st: 60%
2nd: 20%
3rd: 11%
4th: 6%
5th: 3%

-- HORSES

How many horses can I own?
However many your stable can hold. If you have enough stalls for 20,000 horses, then have at it!

May I import horses into the game?
No.

May I export horses from the game?
No and there are no exceptions.

What are "running stats"?
Running stats is the term we use for the statistics StretchDrive gives out as the 'Trainer's Opinion' (Grumpy Old Trainer - GOTs). Basically, it's an indication how a horse runs in races; it's breaking speed, natural speed, drive, etc. They are generated through StretchDrive's breeding interface. When a horse is bred, the running stats of both the sire and dam contribute to the foal's running stats, making it easy to decide on how you would like breeding to be done.

How do horses age?
Horses age based on Glory time. If the Glory year advances, then your horse's age advances, no matter what RL year we are currently in.

When does a horse __________?
Retire from racing: 10 is the maximum age a horse can continue racing at (once s/he turns eleven, s/he must be retired)
Retire from breeding: 20 is the maximum age a horse can continue breeding at (once s/he turns twenty-one, s/he must be retired)
Die: 25 (upon turning 25)

Of course, no matter what the age, there is always the possibility of injury resulting in racing retirement, infertility, or death.

-- Breeding

How are RL stallions being handled in Glory?
RL studs in Glory will leave the game, if you will, the same way RL studs will leave the RL scene. When a RL stud is pensioned, so will the stallion in Glory. Same for deaths. ** Exception being Glory 2007.

What are these breeding weeks in Glory?
To make the game more realistic, mares will foal at given times during the Glory year. These weeks were manually calculated in order to bring a realistic edge to breeding in Glory. When a mare foals is dependent upon when she was bred, and an early factor and late factor.

How often can a mare be bred?
Once per Glory year.

How many mares may a stud cover in Glory?
30 mares per year is the maximum right now.
